Evaluation of serum irisin, retinol-binding protein-4 in human obesity

چکیده

Retinol-binding protein 4(RBP4), and irisin originally described as an adipocyte-specific hormone, has been suggested to be important link between obesity, insulin resistance diabetes. To test the hypothesis that RBP4, concentrations will higher in obese subject than normal weight. A total of 176 individuals were evaluated, which divided into three groups according BMI. Group I (Normal Weight group n=75), II (Over group, n=50), III (Obese n=51). Serum RBP4and levels evaluated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The statistical analysis (students t-test) exhibited significant (P> 0.0001)elevation for RBP4 , Irisin, over weight compared with groups{(57.6 ± 16.0), (70.1 19.9)vs (41.8 13.3) µg/ml ; p< 0.001},{(168.19 11.71) (171.35 11.81) vs(146.19 9.13) ng/mL: 0.05},{(7.25 2.04), (9.02 4.75) vs (4.91±1.87) mU/mL; 0.001} respectively. Linear regression showed positive correlations serum and, Irisin.

Retinol-binding protein 4 in human obesity.

Studies in mice suggest that adipocytes serve as glucose sensors and regulate systemic glucose metabolism through release of serum retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4). This model has not been validated in humans. RBP4 was highly expressed in isolated mature human adipocytes and secreted by differentiating human adipocytes. In contrast to the animal data, RBP4 mRNA was downregulated in subcutaneous...

Retinol-binding protein 4 expression in visceral and subcutaneous fat in human obesity.

Retinol binding protein 4 (RBP4) is a novel adipokine which might be involved in the development of insulin resistance. The aim of the study was to investigate the expression of RBP4 mRNA in subcutaneous and visceral fat depots and the relationship between RBP4 plasma and mRNA levels relative to indices of adiposity and insulin resistance. In 59 Caucasian women (BMI 20 to 49 kg/m(2)) paired sam...

Retinol-Binding Protein 4 in Twins

OBJECTIVE Retinol-binding protein (RBP) 4 is an adipokine of which plasma levels are elevated in obesity and type 2 diabetes. The aims of the study were to identify determinants of plasma RBP4 and RBP4 mRNA expression in subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) and skeletal muscle and to investigate the association between RBP4 and in vivo measures of glucose metabolism. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS ...

Quantitative Mass Spectrometry Evaluation of Human Retinol Binding Protein 4 and Related Variants

BACKGROUND Retinol Binding Protein 4 (RBP4) is an exciting new biomarker for the determination of insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes. It is known that circulating RBP4 resides in multiple variants which may provide enhanced clinical utility, but conventional immunoassay methods are blind to such differences. A Mass Spectrometric immunoassay (MSIA) technology that can quantitate total RBP4 a...

Biochemical indicators of vitamin A deficiency: serum retinol and serum retinol binding protein.

Two biochemical indicators are currently recommended for determining whether vitamin A deficiency (VAD) is a public health problem: serum retinol and serum retinol-binding protein (RBP). After consideration of 40 data sets and the original rationale for previously proposed cut-offs, a cut-off for serum retinol concentration was proposed at <0.70 micro mol/L (20 micro g/dL) in > or =15% of the s...
